How to Improve Eyesight Naturally

Have you ever wondered how to improve eyesight naturally?

How many of us have experienced ups and downs with our eyes and wanted to learn how to improve eyesight? There are many reasons why our eyesight can change even on a daily basis. Some of the reasons for diminished eyesight can be from not getting enough sleep or rest. Other reasons include not eating nutritious foods that feed the body/mind sufficiently, and not drinking enough water and becoming dehydrated.

One of the biggest factors that causes our eyes to change is stress. When we are worried, stressed out, or experiencing unresolved anger, resentment, or frustration, we create blocked energy in our body. This can lead to blurry, unclear vision, red eyes, twitching muscles around the eyes as well as many other symptoms in the body.

In this day and age, we are spending many hours a day on computers, tablets, and cell phones which causes great stress on our eyes. Many of us take our eyesight for granted until there is a problem and then we seek help. Here are some basic tips on proactively improving your eyesight naturally and effectively!


First, I want to touch upon how to improve eyesight with nutrition. Eat whole, organic, unprocessed foods and eliminate sugar (which causes inflammation and is poison to our system). Eat lots of dark green leafy vegetables (not head lettuce) such as kale, spinach, collard greens, and a variety of lettuce. Also eat green, red, yellow and orange peppers, tomatoes, carrots and an array of all the other colors found in fruits and vegetables. The dark green leafy vegetables contain the highest amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin and other very important vitamins and minerals for the eyes. Also, Blueberries, Blackberries, Boysenberries are all very high in antioxidants which the stop free radicals that contribute to degeneration of the eyes.

Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. That means that you take your body weight and cut it in half. That half of your body weight is how many ounces of water that you should be drinking each day. For example, 150 lbs. of weight cut in half is 75 lbs. which would be 75 oz. of water to keep properly hydrated.


Second, let’s talk about how to improve eyesight naturally with exercise. We all know how important and beneficial exercise is for our body but most of us don’t realize that exercise for the eyes is very beneficial for eyesight improvement. Just think of what exercise does. It increases blood circulation, strengthens the muscles, and increases energy, along with making you feel great! Well, exercise for the eyes does the same thing. By exercising the eye muscles, blood and chi increases throughout the eye area bringing increased oxygen, nutrients, and increased circulation. Here are some simple exercises that explain how to improve eyesight:

  • Imagine a wide horizontal figure eight and follow it with your eyes without moving your head. Or, if it is easier for you, you can draw the figure eight with your index finger and follow it with your eyes without moving your head.
  • Imagine a wide vertical figure eight and follow it with your eyes without moving your head. Or, again, if it is easier for you, you can draw the figure eight with your index finger and follow it with your eyes without moving your head.
  • For each variation take 2-3 minutes.

This relaxes the eyes which increases the ability to focus and should be done at least 3 times a day for a couple of minutes each time along with taking some deep breaths. It is very important to do some eye exercises to relax the eyes at least once every hour when you are on a computer or tablet for a long time. We are not built to sit and do close work with our eyes, so make sure you look out into the distance for those few minutes. It will make a huge difference. Third, I’ll explain how to improve eyesight by getting enough rest. I think we all know that when we are tired, it affects our body as well as our mind. Eyesight can suffer greatly if we do not get enough rest and sleep. Allow yourself to get the rest and sleep you need to feel renewed and energized. Stress Management

Finally, I’ll tell you how to improve eyesight by reducing needless stress and anxiety. The truth is, we all have stress in our lives which ultimately affects our mind/body. The most beneficial ways to handle stress is focusing on the above information and adding techniques such as yoga, meditation, chi gong, tai chi, breathwork, etc. An excellent technique to add to this list is tapping (look up The Tapping Solution) which is easy and can be done any time you feel stressed.

Again, exercise is great for releasing stress. Make time during the day, 10 – 15 minutes or so, to use these techniques to help you release stress. I also suggest that you write down a “gratitude list”. Write everything that you are grateful for, big and small, and keep adding to it whenever you can. When you are feeling stressed or depressed, start reading this list over again. This will shift your mind to a more positive, peaceful level and the more you read your list, the better you will feel.
